The first thing you’re going to want to do when setting up your in-lite outdoor lighting system with the SMART HUB-150 and the SMART MOVE is charge the SMART MOVE. Do this first so that when you’re done the install, you’ll be able to set up the motion detector right away!
It’s wireless and solar powered, so you’ll need to leave it in the sun for about 3 hours before you can set it up.
You can mount the SMART MOVE flat against practically any outdoor surface. I recommend mounting it near an entrance way, by a door, or anywhere there is a higher likelihood of someone walking past the motion detector to trigger the lights. There’s no point in having a motion detector where there is no motion to detect! It comes with the mounting screw and anchor needed to install the SMART MOVE.
One of the coolest things about the SMART HUB-150 and the SMART MOVE is that you can pair up to 16 SMART MOVES to your transformer! Okay, 16 might be a little bit overkill… But you have the flexibility to add multiple motion detectors to your space. This can be useful if you have different entrance ways to your space, a large area, or multiple lighting zones!
Once you’ve left the motion detector in the sun for a minimum of 3 hours, you’ll use the in-lite app to set it up. This is how you will connect the SMART MOVE to the SMART HUB-150. Follow these simple steps to get started:
You can set up your SMART MOVE in the routines section on the app. Click on “New Routine” then “Motion Detection."
A page will pop up with a picture of the SMART MOVE. Tap on the button at the bottom of the page that says, “add motion detector."
Next, we’re going to press the reset button on the SMART MOVE. You have to hold the button for about 5 seconds, then press it once more enable syncing between the motion detector and the transformer.
You will notice a blinking light on the front of the SMART MOVE, this indicates it is ready to pair with a SMART HUB-150. Click “yes” on the app to confirm you see the light. If the light on the front of the smart move doesn’t blink, your SMART MOVE is not charged.
Give your devices a moment to pair to each other – sometimes this takes a minute or two!
Then name your motion detector, choose how long you want the lights to come on after the smart move is triggered, and choose which zone of lights you want to be controlled by this smart move. That’s it! Your lights will now come on when someone walks past the motion detector.
But don’t worry, your lights will only come on between sunset and sunrise, so you don’t have to worry about the motion detector being triggered during the day.
Your SMART MOVE can also be set up in conjunction with your other routines, so whenever your lights are off during the night the motion detector will take over.
